- ISACA® Chapter in Las Vegas Promotes
Cybersecurity Awareness
- Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (18 July 2005)-In the wake of
increased information system (IS) security breaches and new regulations
worldwide, the need to share guidance and best practices related to IS security,
audit, control and governance has inspired 46 IT professionals in Las Vegas to
form a chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association®
(ISACA®).
- "I knew with the rapid growth in Las Vegas and the
increase in cybersecurity threats that information sharing among area security
and audit professionals was essential," said Joseph Santilli, president of the
new Las Vegas Chapter of ISACA® . "When I attended ISACA®'s Network
Security Conference in Las Vegas last year, I asked about organizing a local
chapter."
- With more than 47,000 members in more than 140
countries, ISACA® (www.isaca.org) is a recognized worldwide
leader in IT governance, control, security and assurance. Founded in 1969,
ISACA® sponsors international conferences, publishes the Information Systems
Control Journal, and develops international information systems auditing and
control standards. The association administers the Certified Information Systems
Auditor (CISA™) designation, earned by more than 40,000 professionals since
its inception, and the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM™)
designation, earned by 5,200 professionals in its first three years.
- With the addition of the Las Vegas Chapter,
ISACA® has 174 chapters around the world.
- The Las Vegas Chapter will hold quarterly meetings on
the
third Tuesday in August, November, February and May.
- The first meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. on August
16,
at the East Las Vegas Community Center
(250 N. Eastern Ave., Conference Room 2).
